Raised Tiers: Layers are separated by columns to make the cake appear taller.
Raised waistline: Approximately 1 inch above the natural waistline.
Raw footage: Raw footage is less expensive than editing video, since no extra work is needed.
Reception Card or Folder (invitations): An enclosure used to let guests know where the reception will be. Typically, a reception card will only be required if the wedding and reception will be on two different locations, i.e. the church information is included on the invitation, but the reception card lists the banquet hall's name and address.
Rehearsal dinner: The dinner held before the wedding to invite the families to get together and rehearse the ceremony.
Reinforced Hosiery: The stress areas such as the toe or panty portion have been strengthened with yarns of heavier weight.
Reserved Seat Sections: Although not always used, reserved seat sections are useful for large weddings, especially if the ceremony location has limited seating. Reserved seating will ensure that the families of the bride and groom get seated accordingly.
Response Card and Envelopes: Included in the envelope with the invitation, response cards are provided so that guests can fill them in accordingly and send them back to the host indicating whether or not they will be attending. Response cards, no matter how they are designed, help the bride and groom keep track of the number of guests that will be at their wedding.
Rice paper (invitations): A very thin paper, more translucent than parchment. This one only works with letterpress printing.
Ring Bearer: This is a usually a young boy, who walks down the aisle as part of the bridal procession carrying an ornamental cushion that has two rings tied to it.
Ring Pillow: A pillow carried by the ring bearer used to hold rings to walk down the aisle preceding the bride.
Rolled Fondant: This icing is made of gelatin, confectionery sugar and water. It has a beautiful porcelain finish suitable for beading or tiny flowers.
Round Brilliant Cut: The most common cut of diamond, containing 58 facets. Also the most brilliant cut, in terms of most efficient use of light to increase brilliance and fire, hence the name.
Royal Icing: Sugar and egg white mixture piped through a bag to create flowers and other decorations that are allowed to dry and placed individually on the cake.
Ruffles: Tiers of ruffles, usually of organza or chiffon, applied to the skirt, train or back of dress.
Royal Train: The longest train length, extending more than 3 yards from the waist.
Rukhsat: A ritual tradition in Moslem weddings where the father of the bride gives her hand in marriage to her groom, on the promise that he will look after her.
